Steven Lines was right up there in 40 Lap Marathon winning contention last Saturday night at Murray Bridge Speedway, but some misfortune in the closing laps while attempting to take control of the lead resulted in a race-ending crash.

With only a handful of laps in the feature race remaining, Lines sat in second and was attempting to take the lead away from eventual winner Brad Keller.

“I had a run on the inside of Brad (Keller) and then just misjudged the pass,” explained the WA # 3 Penske Truck Rental / Halls Haulage backed KPC driver.

“After I collided with his (Brad Keller) left-rear tyre, I crashed out heavily and that ended my winning hopes there and then – it’s disappointing to have my race end the way it did but that’s just the way racing goes sometimes.”

Lines had qualified as the fourth highest point scorer heading into the feature race after he had finished his heat races in fifth and fourth and topped the time sheets in qualifying at the beginning of the night.

Lines and the Halls Motorsport team are now going to have a busy week building a new car in readiness for the annual Australian Masters at Adelaide’s Speedway City this Saturday night.

In other Halls Motorsport team news, David Hall made his 2015-16 season debut last Saturday night at Pithara Speedway in Western Australia for the running of the annual Bonza Bradford Memorial for the 360 Sprintcars.

Hall had a strong night by qualifying second for the feature race after the heat races and then went on to finish in second place behind winner Shaun Bradford.

“I had a good night and in the end Shaun (Bradford) was just too good,” Hall expressed.

“My goal for this season is to contend for the 360 Power Series. I finished second in last season’s point score, so the aim for this season is to try and go one better.”

The WA # 5 Halls Haulage supported KPC driver is next going to be in action at the Perth Motorplex on the Saturday night of November 21 for the opening round of the 360 Power Series.
