After two previous runner-up results in the event Steven Lines totally dominated the field to win the 30th Anniversary Oxford Insurance Brokers Australian Sprintcar Masters at Speedway City. Early in the night Lines sent out an ominous warning to his rivals as he set the quickest time during Time Trials before winning the CBS Bins Pole Shuffle. As a result Lines started the 35 Lap A-Main from the pole and he led from start to finish to claim the $10,000 winners cheque ahead of former race winner Matt Egel and Daniel Pestka.

“It is great to finally win this race. I have been after this win for a few years now so it feels pretty good to be standing here. I really have got to thank my guys who worked so hard during the week putting a new car together after the mistake I made last weekend. I must thank all of my sponsors and Wendy for putting on such a good race” added Lines as he accepted his trophy.

In what can only be described as a dominant display Line actually lapped the field up to position 7 and if it wasn’t for Aidan Hall, who bought out the red light with six laps to go, Lines would have won the race by over half a lap. Fourth place went to Steven Caruso with Jamie Cobby eventually getting the better of Brock Hallett in what was a great battle. Luke Bowey was the last of the drivers on the lead lap with Mark Caruso, Ricky Maiolo, Keke Falland and Ryan Jones the only other finishers.

The opening two laps of the feature race proved to be tough for two of the major contenders with Ryan Jones being sent to rear after an opening lap spin, that resulted in front wing damage, and Brad Keller who rode out a big bicycle in turn two before slamming the wall ending his race.

The heat winners on the night were Daniel Pestka, Matt Egel, Steven Caruso, Hayden Pitt, Brock Hallett and Ricky Maiolo.

In the support events Matthew Kennedy claimed his first ever Wingless Sprints A-Main event, Ryan Alexander reset the 15 Lap Track Record as he won Round 5 of the JD Couriers Super Sedan Series and Darren Flatman easily claimed the Street Stock Feature.

The next event at Speedway City will be this Saturday Night (November 14) with a Night of Total Destruction with Late Models, AMCA Nationals, Junior Sedans and Street Stocks along with a host of novelty events including Fireworks, a Laguna Loans 4 Cylinder Demo Derby, Wingfield Wreckers Steel Wall Car Stunt, Car Dominos and a Flaming Inferno.
